Secondary Innovation
This national programme being delivered locally by Northumberland LDA is coming to the end of its first year.
All High Schools in the county are involved and have produced contracts and action plans identifying those areas for development within their schools and departments to increase participation, raise standards and impact upon teaching strategies and practices.
A variety of focus areas were identified.
Common themes are:
Use of ICT in Physical Education
Creating a more diverse Curriculum.
Assessment and the use of Core Tasks
Key Initiatives.
Quizdom purchased and incorporated into the delivery of GCSE Physical Education in Year 10. Quizdom also used by Business and ICT Department
to compare impact across the curriculum. (Ashington Sports College.)
Fitness Room facilities and classrooms upgraded and ICT hardware installed to raise standards in core and academic Physical Education

Trampolining introduced to target groups in Years 10 and 11. Use of Kandle software incorporated into the delivery of new units of work. OSHL Club established.

Table Tennis delivered as an option in Year 10 games lessons. OSHL club established.
(Hirst High School)
Badminton introduced to target groups in the curriculum. Intra School and Inter School competitive opportunities established. (Coquet High School. The Duchess High School)
