These coaching courses and workshops aim to improve the quality of teaching, coaching, learning and attainment in Physical Education and School Sport. They provide opportunities for teachers, teaching assistants and coaches & volunteers (recommended by their school) to: 1. Update and improve their technical knowledge and competence in specific sports 2.Impact upon young peoples` learning 3. British Gymnastics Teachers Trampolining award

 

Duration:

21 hours ( 3 days)

Targeted at those who wish to prepare students for school competitions, examinations, curricular and OSHL activities .The course covers necessary skills up to, and including back and front somersaults. (use of the overhead support rig is not included)The target group of PE specialist secondary school teachers are required to have the ability to perform basic jumps & skills and will be expected to reach a level of personal performance that will support their practical coaching. The course is assessed via continuous assessment of coaching skills, personal performance & a written paper. The qualification gained is valid within the school environment (this includes groups taken off site e.g. to a local sports centre) & canÕt be used for vacation courses even if held on a school premises.

This course is aimed at teachers wanting to extend pupils by establishing an extra curricular gymnastics club. The syllabus will cover :

Setting up a club (including School/Club Links); Safety and body management ; Floor skills ;Vaulting (basic) ; Acrobatic/Rhythmic/Aerobic Gymnastics and Flight (secondary)

Practical modules will include general principles of support as well as an overview of the new and highly praised English Gymnastics Key Steps scheme

Thisi s a part theory/practical course which provides an introduction to Table Tennis Coaching.  It is suitable for qualified or student teachers, those who work in Local Authority Schools or commercially operated sports centres, or those who work within the youth or community services.  A satisfactory playing standard is not necessary to qualify at this level.  Assessment via : Theory paper and dry land practical demonstration (at the end of course).

This non assessed course is targeted at secondary PE specialists, non specialists, trainee teachers and assistants/volunteers recommended by their Schools. It will cover warming up/cooling down; acquiring & developing specific skills; selecting & applying skills; planning units of work; planning, teaching and evaluating lesson plans; assessment & recording. Attendees should come prepared for practical and theory based work and will receive a certificate of attendance & an FA curric` guide on completion of the full course

This course covers the development of core movement components i.e. speed, stamina, strength and suppleness in relation to skill and event progression in KS2/3 athletics events .No Preevious experience is necessary and attendees will receive a UK Athletics course manual. The course will be a mix of theory and practical and attendees should therefore bring appropriate clothing and footwear.
