Blyth/Bedlington
School Sport Partnership

PDM’s Review

Once again we come to the end of another very busy term of sporting activities and I find it hard to believe that the School Sport Partnership has now been established for
two years.

Each year we aim to improve upon established events and add new activities to our programme. Year 2 has seen
the introduction of Dance and Gymnastics festivals for all
key stages and a greater range of competitions for key stage 3 children.

For key stage 1 children, multi-skills festivals have taken
place and this will grow into a generic skills module to be
rolled out from September and multi- sport/activity festivals throughout the year.

One of the highlights for October 2007 will be the 2 day
visit of Val Sabin to the partnership to lead teacher’s
courses on Key Stage 1&2 Gymnastics and Dance. Many
of you will already be using the teaching manuals written
and published by Val and this will be a fantastic
opportunity for staff to work alongside this truly inspiring deliverer.

Also planned for October will be a ‘Yoga Dynamics’ workshop aimed at teachers/classroom assistants of all
key stages.

There has still been no official announcement regarding
the next 3 year funding cycle (2008-11), so it is crucial
that all schools make sure they include all of the good work they are doing in this years PESSCL survey.

Finally may I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in the events that have taken place this year and thank you all for your continued support.

Together we can make school sport an even more enjoyable experience for all children.

Have a wonderful summer holiday and we look forward to working with you again next year.
